Full Coverage Car Insurance is a term that is used to describe the combination of comprehensive and collision coverage on your Auto Insurance policy. Most people consider full coverage the policy that combines these three coverages:

  • State-required bodily injury and property damage liability coverage
  • Collision coverage to protect your vehicle in the event of an accident
  • Comprehensive coverage to protect your vehicle from accidents other than collision, including theft, vandalism, or natural disaster damage

Since there is no such policy that can offer you complete coverage from all risks and exposures, even with so-called full coverage you still need to consider additional protection for your vehicle. The more comprehensive your policy, the better you are protected. Consider the following additional coverages:

  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist – helps you cover the costs of the damages if you are hit by a driver with no insurance or not enough insurance
  • Medical payments – in the event of an accident, the coverage will pay the costs of medical expenses for you and your passengers
  • Rental car reimbursement – if your car is in repair after an accident, the policy will pay for the costs of renting a temporary vehicle
  • Emergency road assistance – if your car needs towing or labor after an accident, the coverage will pay the costs

There are many factors to consider when choosing Auto Insurance, and full coverage for other people may not mean the same to you. Analyze your needs, your budget, and your vehicle, and determine what policy will work best for you. If you work with an independent agent, he can give you useful recommendations regarding necessary coverages for your vehicle.
